Meatless Mondays, vegetarian, and vegan food options

The Dining Commons offers Meatless Mondays and helps students to reduce their impact by offering vegetarian options. The DC also offers vegan food options which in turn can help reduce your impact on the local environment. Not only do they offer Meatless Mondays, but the DC has a fully stocked salad bar with fresh locally grown produce and each food station offers a vegetarian or vegan option. Did you know that if you switch to vegetarianism, your carbon footprint can decrease by 1.5 tons of carbon dioxide per year?

Reusable and compostable utensils and containers

In a rush to get to class? Not a problem, grab it to go guilt-free because the DC uses dishware made of biodegradable materials such as potatoes, crushed sugarcane stalks and corn. For those of you dining in, the DC provides reusable dishware instead of throwing away used dishware.

Eating locally

CSUMB continually makes efforts to get locally grown produce and fair trade products. Most of the items you'll find on the menu at Monte's restaurant have traveled no more than 100 miles.

We also offer a Farm Stand near the library that runs on Tuesdays during the school year and allows students to purchase fresh local produce using their meal plan or cash.

Whether you want to have a nice sit-down dinner at Monte's, a vegan dish at the DC, or a quick bite to eat at the OE, you will be able to satisfy your taste buds. For more information regarding Otter dining, please click here.
